THE GREAT GATSBY

The Great Gatsby (2013) is a film adaptation of the 1925 novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in Jazz Age New York, the novel tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, and his pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth. Unsuccessful upon publication, the book is now considered a classic of American fiction and has often been called the Great American Novel.

The film was released on May 10th, 2013.

I was lucky enough to be the Costume Design Assistant on this film, beginning with the first workshop in the Fall of 2010 with Leo and Tobey to get the film greenlit. We prepped in New York City from March 2011 through August 2011 and then finished the last month of prep on location in Sydney Australia and then filming commenced following that. What a whirlwind! Catherine Martin was the greatest boss one could hope for and I learned so much on this film and from her in the many years I spent assisting her afterwards.

The Costumes

Behind the Scenes

In addition to my costume design assistant duties, I often served as a fit model for various things (mostly Daisy!) and also got to be an extra during the first party scene!
