Whitney Anne Adams is a New York City based costume designer & stylist for film, tv, commercials, theatre, dance, and events.  Her films have premiered at major film festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and TIFF.  Recent work: PIERCING (Sundance 2018 premiere) starring Mia Wasikowska and Christopher Abbott will be in theaters in early February 2019. HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U will be in theaters worldwide February 14th 2019. KILLERMAN starring Liam Hemsworth will be in theaters Spring 2019. Also in 2018: IRREPLACEABLE YOU (Netflix) starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michiel Huisman, THE CARETAKER short VR film (Cannes Film Festival 2018 world premiere and the Tribeca Film Festival US Premiere).

Whitney recently returned from New Orleans where she designed the film Happy Death Day 2U directed and written by Christopher Landon and starring Jessica Rothe. At the end of 2017, she spent time in Savannah, Georgia where she designed the new action thriller feature film Killerman starring Liam Hemsworth and Emory Cohen, directed by Malik Bader and shot by Ken Seng. Earlier in 2017, she completed designing the romantic drama Irreplaceable You in NYC starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michiel Huisman, also featuring Christopher Walken, Kate McKinnon, Steve Coogan, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jacki Weaver.  In late 2016, Whitney wrapped principal photography on the feature Piercing starring Mia Wasikowska and Christopher Abbott. Directed by Nicholas Pesce, Piercing is based on Ryu Murakami’s 1994 novel of the same name.  

Her designs for the VR film Broken Night starring Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola were recently seen during the premieres at the Cannes Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival in 2017.   The Eyes of My Mother  (Borderline Presents/Magnet Releasing) premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 22nd 2016 and debuted in theaters on December 2, 2016.  Directed and written by Nicolas Pesce, the film centers on a young, lonely woman who is consumed by her deepest and darkest desires after tragedy strikes her quiet country life.  Cast: Kika Magalhães, Will Brill, Paul Nazak, Flora Diaz, Clara Wong, Diana Agostini. 

Highlights of her assisting career include working for designer Catherine Martin and director Baz Luhrmann for many years, with assistant design work on The Great Gatsby,   Chanel No. 5: The One That I Want,   Strictly Ballroom: The Stage Musical and multiple Met Costume Institute Galas. Whitney has also loved working with the costume designer Amela Baksic - serving as assistant costume designer on the Netflix film Barry directed by Vikram Gandhi which premiered in theaters and on Netflix December 16th and the film Wiener-Dog directed by Todd Solondz. Earlier in 2016, she finished work as the assistant costume designer to William Ivey Long on the NBC variety show Maya & Marty starring Maya Rudolph and Martin Short and featuring many celebrity guests. 

Her extensive theatre and events career include the retelling of the Nutcracker through hip hop dance set to Tchavosky's iconic score in The Hip Hop Nutcracker which is about to be touring the country for the fourth straight year. She's designed three concerts for the band Phish: two New Years Eves at Madison Square Garden and one Halloween show featuring Abe Vigoda in a wombat suit, she designed the grand reopening gala at the Knickerbocker Hotel in Times Square on New Years Eve, Travesties at the Bay Street Theatre, Les Miserables at the Zach Theatre in Austin, Tonight at 8:30 featuring Blythe Danner and Simon Jones at the John Drew Theatre at Guild Hall directed by Tony Walton, as well as numerous other productions in New York, across the country, and internationally.
